I have to admit that I'm a Science Fiction fanatic. I love reading science fiction books and watching science fiction movies. When I read about Schism: The Battle for Darracia, I knew it was a book that I wanted to read.
About the book:
On the planet Darracia, an ever-widening social gap between its inhabitants is causing turmoil that is fracturing a once peaceful world. Struggling with his identity, nineteen year old Prince V'sair must harness the power of the elusive Fireblade, the secret to a warrior's heart, in order to overcome his uncle Staf Nuen's lust for supremacy. Will the energy of the Elements guide the young prince to his true destiny or will Staf Nuen conquer Darracia?

My thoughts:
Schism: The Battle for Darracia is a well written book that kept me intrigued. I ending up finishing the book the same day I started it because I wanted to know what would happen next. The descriptions of the planets it were done extremely well since I could imagine them perfectly in my head. I love it when an author can transport you into the world they have created. Here is an example of the author's work:
The stars littered the heavens like the sparkling bubbles that aerated the water. The four moons hung low on the horizon but lit the ground with delight as they floated above the land, which as now a speck in the night sky. It was as though they flew above a red-colored bowl. The sea roared to their left, and the cliffs of the Desa turned a deep burgundy in the darkness of the night. The moons illuminated the forest treetops, and she heard the rustle of the wind as it buffeted their bodies. A flock of gresh flew below them, and she giggled as they cawed.I really appreciated how the author described the fight scenes. He explained what happened without getting too gory. I don't like books that make my stomach curl because of the graphic detail. And, I just have to have say how much I loved this quote:
"You are hard. Soft bends and is resilient, hard brakes. Hard cannot bend. Times are changing."The only issue I had with the book was the relationship between the prince, V'sair and Tulani. I wished the author would have taken a little more time to develop the relationship between them because it seemed to happen so suddenly that it just didn't seem practical. Since this is just the first book of the series, I am hoping there will probably be more character development.
Despite that only issue, I am definitely planning on reading the other books in the series because I want to know what happens. You can get a copy of Schism: The Battle for Darracia at Amazon.
